The Eighth Annual Cheshire's Lights of Hope to Glow in November

More than 300 Cheshire streets will be lined with luminarias on Nov. 12

The town will be aglow on Nov. 12 when more than 50,000 luminarias will be lit for the annual Cheshire's Lights of Hope event.

Residents from nearly 300 streets in Cheshire will line their neighborhoods while the highly visible Route 10 corridor will have 2,000 paper lanterns to light the center of town.

The event supports the Cheshire Food Pantry, Cheshire Youth and Social Services, the Petit Family Foundation and the Cheshire’s Lights of Hope Scholarship Fund.

The town's social services outreach includes fuel and housing assistance. “My office receives no less than 4 calls a day – and in the winter time, that number can quickly escalate up to 10 calls a day," said Kristen Schechter, the town's social worker. "We try to meet the needs of the community and this will really help us.” 

The organizers will also once again offer a $2,500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior.
