911 Call for Abandoned Danbury Baby Released by Police
BREAKING: Police have released the audio as well as photos of the clothes that the baby was wrapped in.
DANBURY, CT — Police released audio of an 911 call Thursday reporting that a newborn baby had been left behind the Zaytuna Grocery Store on Main Street with its umbilical chord still attached. During, the six-minute audio clip, a man told police that he had found a baby boy behind the grocery store. Police released photos of the clothes the baby was wrapped in, and said the baby had been born shortly before it was left behind the store Sunday.
Emergency crews had to clamp down on the cord when he was found in the bushes behind the store. Police say the baby is still being evaluated at Danbury Hospital, and say that their main concern is for the baby's mother. Police say the mother may be a victim of a crime or may need medical attention. To sign up for Danbury breaking news alerts and more, click here.
The baby had been wrapped in a blanket, scarf, sweatpants, a sweatshirt and a t-shirt which read "Yo Soy Linaje Escogido," which translate from Spanish to "I Am Chosen Lineage." The department stated Monday that officers responded to the call and reported near the Polla Supermarket at 11:38 p.m., and were directed to the Zaytuna Grocery Store after arriving on scene.
