Danbury Councilman Emile Buzaid Announces Mayoral Run
Republican Councilman Emile Buzaid launches bid to challenge Democratic Mayor Roberto Alves in Danbury's 2025 election.

DANBURY, CT — Emile G. Buzaid Jr., a Republican at-large member of the Danbury City Council and longtime business owner, has entered the race for mayor, becoming the first candidate to challenge incumbent Democratic Mayor Roberto Alves in the November 2025 election.
Buzaid, 71, filed his candidate registration form with the Town Clerk’s office on Monday.
"Danbury is a unique city that is proud of its many generations seeking the American Dream. I am running for mayor because the people of Danbury are speaking, and I am listening. They are saying that they want a change in direction to preserve our identity as a city that maintains the feel of a close-knit town," Buzaid said in a statement.
