Danbury Library Hosts Third Annual Community Baby Shower

Join Danbury Library's free Baby Shower April 26 for parenting tips, workshops, and early learning gifts.

DANBURY, CT — The Danbury Library will hold its third annual Community Baby Shower on Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 170 Main Street. The event is free and open to the public.

Expectant parents and families with young children are invited to connect with local health professionals, early childhood specialists and support organizations offering essential resources for new and growing families.

The first 50 families to arrive will receive a free early literacy tote bag, sponsored by the Friends of the Danbury Library. The bags include books and toys aimed at promoting learning for children ages 0 to 18 months and will be available on the library’s main floor while supplies last.

The event will feature information tables from several community groups, including the Association of Religious Communities, Birth by Faith, The Center for Empowerment, Cora’s Kids, Connecticut Paid Family Leave Authority, Danbury Collective, Families Network of Western Connecticut and the Friends of the Danbury Library.

Workshops will also be held throughout the event. At 11:30 a.m., Nuvance Health will present “Your Developing Baby,” focusing on key developmental milestones. At the same time, the “Dad’s Read” program, hosted by Families Network, will take place in the Story Corner, offering stories and songs read by local fathers and father figures.

At 12:45 p.m., childbirth educator Lesley Matos will lead a session on preparing for delivery. The event will conclude with a 1 p.m. presentation by Moms Demand Action, titled “Be SMART: Gun Safety for Parents,” focusing on responsible firearm storage in homes with children.
