Danbury Woman Faces Multiple Narcotics Charges After Home Search

Danbury police seized drugs, cash, and cigarettes during a search of a 70-year-old woman's apartment near a school.

DANBURY, CT — A 70-year-old Danbury woman is facing multiple narcotics-related charges after detectives from the Danbury Police Department's Special Investigations Division executed court-authorized search and seizure warrants at her residence.

Officers searched the apartment of Vera Ribeiro-Menezes at 27 Foster St., on April 4. According to police, this was the fourth time detectives have searched her home in connection with ongoing investigations. Prior complaints accused Ribeiro-Menezes of selling cigarettes, alcohol, and narcotics from the location.

During the most recent search, detectives found Ribeiro-Menezes inside the residence and served an active warrant. The search yielded approximately $13,000 in cash, crack cocaine, and a quantity of cigarettes.

She faces charges including possession of a controlled substance (third offense), possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance within 200 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also charged under a separate warrant with two counts each of possession of a controlled substance (second offense), possession with intent to sell, sale of narcotics, and possession of a controlled substance within 200 feet of a school.

Bond for each set of charges was set at $100,000.
