Fire on Victor Street

Residents at 36 Victor St., declined to speak about the fire that hit their house Saturday evening, but the fire that appeared to start near a basement woodstove damaged the living room above it.

Workers were repairing the damage later Saturday evening, and that work included tearing out and covering or replacing two windows that were destroyed in the fire. The living room floor was cut up, and the room appeared to be severely damaged.

Alan Augusto, the family's son, said three people were home when the house started filling with smoke. No one was injured. After a talk with his father, the family declined to speak further about the incident.
