Consider getting out of the house this weekend by attending a Sweet Heart's dance and dinner, Valentine's Day story and crafts, an Animal Welfare Society ball, a planetarium show, live indie music and the Western New England Home show.

Here are six options for getting yourself out of the house this weekend.

1) The Western New England Home Show takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Feldman Arena, Western Connecticut State University's westside campus.

Home improvement companies will display their products. Admission is $6 adults, $5 seniors and children under 12 are free.

2) Live indie music, 10 p.m. Saturday, the Heirloom Arts Theater, 155 Main St., Danbury. Poverty Hash and Waylon Speed will be playing. Admission is $5. http://heirloomarts.org/

3) The Planetarium and Observatory at Western Connecticut State University's Westside campus is hosting a planetarium show and telescope viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the westside campus, 43 Lake Avenue Extension. The show starts at 5 p.m. and that is followed by time for attendees to view planets, stars and other objects through the telescope. http://patch.com/L-klZJ

4) St. Mary's School in Bethel is sponsoring a Sweet Heart Saturday Dinner and Dance & Auction from 6 to 11 p.m. at 65 Sand Pit Hill Road, the Portuguese Cultural Center, Danbury. The event includes dinner, drinks and dancing. It is $75 per person, and the proceeds benefits St. Mary's School in Bethel. http://www.stmarybethelct.org/

5) The Danbury Animal Welfare Society "Make a Difference Ball" takes place from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Ethan Allen Inn, 21 Lake Avenue Extension, Danbury. This dinner dance is the DAWS biggest fundraiser of the year. http://www.daws.org/

6) The Danbury Public Library is hosting a Valentine's Day Story and Crafts show for small children from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Danbury Public Library, 170 Main St. Children will make Valentine's Day crafts and hear a story. http://www.danburylibrary.org/
