Gojcaj Murder Sentencing Continued to March

Marash Gojcaj, convicted of killing his business partner/uncle, is slated to be sentenced March 3.

The sentencing of Marash Gojcaj for the murder of his uncle Zef Vulevic was continued until March 3 at 10 a.m.

Gojcaj, 34, was convicted in 2010 of murdering his uncle, who was also his business partner. Vulevic was known to everyone in Danbury by his nickname, Joe Vuli. The murder took place after a night of drinking between Gojcaj and his uncle that started on April 4 and ended on April 5, 2004.

At one point, the night of the murder, the pair were so loud outside of Gusto’s Ristorante, 275 Main St., police ordered Gojcaj to get Vulevic off the street. Later, a witness in the trial said Vulevic crawled out the front door twice on his hands and knees, trying to escape Gojcaj, only to have Gojcaj pull him back inside both times.

The murder was particularly dramatic, because in the trial, Gojcaj was convicted of shooting his uncle in the head twice, dismembered his body into seven parts, stuffing them in six black plastic bags and dumping them in Bedford, NY, where they remained undiscovered until April 24, when people cleaning for Earth Day found the bags.

Attorney Stephan Seeger, who worked on Gojcaj’s defense team with Attorney Mickey Sherman, asked the judge for a continuance, saying he had not had time to study the pre-sentence investigation. That document is used by the prosecutor and defense in their arguments on what sentence the convicted person should serve.
