Great Plain School Custodian Theodore B. Gaboardi, 103, of Danbury, Passed Away Peacefully

The lifelong Danbury resident was a self-taught crane operator and enjoyed a 32 year career at Stavola Scrapyard.

DANBURY, CT — Theodore B. Gaboardi, age 103, of Danbury, passed peacefully at Hancock Hall on Thursday, August 4, 2016. He was the husband of the late Louise (Wischenbart) Gaboardi.He was born in Danbury on September 10, 1912, a son of the late Angelo and Angelina Gaboardi.

A lifelong area resident, he was a self-taught crane operator and enjoyed a 32 year career at Stavola Scrapyard. After retirement, he worked as a custodian at Great Plain School for 10 years. Known as "Dory" to family and friends he had a reputation as a natural born handyman. He would study the object and fix an old part whenever possible. He could repair anything and could build an object just by copying a picture.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Rosemary L. Schien and his nine siblings. Dory is survived by a daughter: Carol and her husband, Donald Ukers, Jr. of New Milford; a grandson: Donald Ukers III of Washington; and two great-grandsons: Gavin and James; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Interment followed in St. Peter Cemetery.
