Ives Concert Park Announces First Two Summer Shows
Brian Setzer's Rockabilly Riot will start the 2017 concert season off on Jun. 25 at Western Connecticut State University.
From Ives Concert Park: WM Concerts and Ives Concert Park announce the first two shows of the Ives Concert Park 2017 Summer Concert Series at the outdoor venue on the Western Connecticut State University Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.
Up first, at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, will be Brian Setzer’s Rockabilly Riot. Setzer is the iconic guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and three-time Grammy Award-winner known to fans of The Stray Cats as its founder and leader. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. onFriday, March 24, at www.wmconcerts.com and www.ticketfly.com.
A “musician’s musician,” Setzer is credited with continually taking chances with innovative and daring musical styles, while single-handedly resurrecting two forgotten genres of music (rockabilly in the ’80s and swing in the ’90s). Along the way, he has scored chart-topping hits and sold 13 million records during his career as founder/leader of the Stray Cats, his 19-piece Brian Setzer Orchestra and as a solo artist.

At 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, better known as The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie, will bring the latest version of their highly successful classic pop/rock tour to Ives Concert Park for an evening of music from the ’60s, ’70s and beyond, performed by some of the era’s most iconic acts. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 31, atwww.wmconcerts.com and www.ticketfly.com.
The 2017 version of The Happy Together Tour features a cavalcade of Top 40 hits by The Turtles (“Happy Together,” “Elenore”)Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night (“One Is The Loneliest Number,” “Eli’s Coming”) The Association (“Never My Love,” “Windy,”) The Cowsills (“The Rain, The Park and Other Things,” “Hair”) The Box Tops (“The Letter,” “Cry Like A Baby”) andRon Dante of the Archies (“Sugar, Sugar,” “Bang-Shang-A-Lang”). The Happy Together Tour has been attracting large crowds of happy fans since 2010.

No food, beverages or coolers are allowed in the park for these events. Food, soft drinks, water, beer and wine are available for purchase. All bags will be checked at the front gate.
