Obituary: Elia E. Own, 87, of Danbury

Elia (Estafan) Owen, 87, of Danbury, died on Thursday morning, May 18, 2017 at the Regional Hospice of Western CT Center for Comfort Care and Healing, Danbury.

Mrs. Owen was born in Cuba, June 16, 1929, a daughter of Elias and Victoria (Koury) Estafan. She immigrated as a child with her family to the United States and has been a resident of Danbury for the past seventy years.

A homemaker, she enjoyed trips to the casinos and most especially enjoyed the time spent with her family.

She was a member of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury.

Mrs. Owen is survived by two sons, Louis Owen III and David Owen; a sister, Wadad Sais; five grandchildren, Gina, Elissa, Louis, Tyler and Michaela; three great grandchildren, Kevin, Carson and Kate and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Owen was predeceased by a daughter, Katherine “Kathy” Owen Femenia Craemer and by three brothers, Victor Estafan, Elie Estafan and Joseph Estafan.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury.

Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
