District 4 Candidate Hypocrisy when calling for transparency.
Miessau claims lack of transparency what about AndBack LLC?
This East Haven Mayoral race has been a slugfest to say the least. The constant social media attacks on Facebook have been at times funny to downright disturbing especially when it comes to the under ticket. What stands out most is the in the 4th District with the Republican’s selection of Mr. John J. Miessau and his litany of neighbor encounters ranging from verbal arguments to the arrest of a Morgan Point Resident.
Miessau, a self-proclaimed “developer” has had many run ins with his Morgan Point neighbors who at times don’t appreciate his clandestine style of land management especially when it comes to 109 Old Town Highway.
In July 2024 the East Haven Inland Wetlands Commission issued a Cease and Desist order to AndBack LLC to prevent further brush cutting of the vacant lot which housed several native animals and potential wetlands. Research of the Connecticut Secretary of State records show Andback LLC being registered to an agent named Ben Trachten of 679 State Street, New Haven, CT 06511 an attorney but no listed owner. However, at the Inland Wetlands Meeting on July 31, 2024, Mr. John Miessau appeared before the commission on behalf of Andback LLC. Why? Well read the attachments he’s part of the LLC!
Just recently , John Miessau the Republican Town Council candidate for District 4 released a self-promoting campaign advertisement on his Facebook page mentioning transparency as one of his campaign promises. Maybe he should take a look at the man in the mirror before going after his rivals? It is rather questionable how Mr. Miessau could be hypocritical about transparency when he hides the fact that he is one of the 3 owners of Andback LLC. Why didn’t Miessau disclose his ownership? Could it be that there has been a long history of issues with Mr. Miessau’s approach to his attempts to develop in the Morgan Point neighborhood?

Miessau along with other family members first purchased the old Lighthouse Marina property and there have been long time rumors of the desire to develop houses on the land to the objection to a few neighbors on Old Town Highway which overlook and face the Marina property. Starting in 2020 complaints to the Town that Miessau and family were running a “junk yard” at the property drew the attention of the Zoning Officer and Town Assessor. It was discovered that improper tax assessments were levied on the property which was listed as residential land but actually should have been listed as a business. They found multiple boats, cars and equipment on the property listed as rentals and income. Adjustments were made and the Lighthouse Marina was given a corrected tax bill.
Shortly after this occurrence Miessau and his family business partners then found themselves in trouble with the State DEEP. During repaving efforts in Morgan Point the grinded materials that were picked up from the old road was then dropped on Sibley Lane which is not a Town of East Haven maintained road. This dropping of millings was done without permits since the road sits between two marsh parcels of land. Clearly Miessau just feels that he can just do anything he wants regardless of laws, regulations and what is in the best interest of public safety mainly because it benefits him.
The residents of District 4 need to think long and hard before casting a vote for this man who has done nothing for anyone except himself. He has no record of any volunteering on any Town of East Haven Boards or Commissions. With no record of any service how could he in good conscience serve on the East Haven Town Council representing you?
ON NOVEMBER 4th vote NO TO JOHN J MIESSAU!
