Elderly Woman Driver Injured in Car Versus Building Crash
A car versus building crash on Hemingway Avenue Tuesday morning sent elderly woman driver to hospital and building official to the scene.

EAST HAVEN, CT — A car versus building crash on Hemingway Avenue Tuesday morning sends elderly woman driver to hospital and building official to the scene.
East Haven Police and Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the area of Hemingway Avenue and Short Beach Road for a report of a car into a building.
Upon arrival, responding units located a 2016 Mercedes Benz, which appeared to have crossed over Hemingway Avenue from the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot, lodged into the side an unoccupied building in the rear parking lot of 662 Coe Avenue.

The elderly female operator who had to be extricated from the vehicle and treated on scene by East Haven Fire Department personnel was alert and conscious. She was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
Due to the extent of the damage to the building, the East Haven Building Inspector was notified and responded to the scene before the vehicle was removed from the building.
