Stop & Shop’s commitment to offer a wide range of Kosher products and services, provides for the diverse needs of our growing Jewish community, ensuring that customers from all backgrounds feel welcomed and catered to.”
Along with the large Kosher selection, Stop & Shop will also offer all its Waterbury customers enhanced and expansive departments and amenities including meat and seafood departments, large produce, natural and organic selections, a full-service floral department, and extensive prepared food and multicultural offerings. To commemorate the occasion and further support the local community, Stop & Shop donated $7,500 to Children’s Community School and $7,500 to UConn Waterbury to support both school’s food pantries. Both donations are in connection with Stop & Shop’s School Food Pantry program, where Stop & Shop works directly with schools from Pre-K through college to establish and support their in-school food pantries.
“This generous donation from Stop & Shop will allow us to continue to keep food on our shelves, bring in hygiene products, and several toiletries that are always requested at Husky Harvest,” said Monica Lattimer, Assistant Director of Operations at UConn Waterbury. “I am also elated to see a large, devoted Kosher section at this location to assist our Jewish population.”
“Working with children and families in Waterbury for the last several years, I can see the effect that hunger has in the classroom and the struggle so many of us face with food insecurity in these challenging times,” said Katherin Sniffin, Principal of Children’s Community School (CCS). “There are families that choose between paying the utilities or paying for food, and that makes learning impossible. The contribution of Stop & Shop to help CCS provide food to children and families helps our families worry about one less thing. Thank you to Stop & Shop for stepping up and taking care of our community.”
