Bad Weather Brings Flooded Roads, Blown Transformer To Fairfield

After Tropical Storm Henri brought a dreary start to the week, the skies will clear and the temperatures will rise Tuesday in Fairfield.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A major traffic light that was out most of the day Monday was among several inconveniences drivers faced in Fairfield after two days of rain and wind.

As of about 5:15 p.m., the light at Black Rock Turnpike and Congress Street had not yet been restored by the state Department of Transportation, despite being out since that morning, according to police.

Other storm-related issues for drivers Monday included flooding at Old Stratfield and Tunxis Hill roads and a downed tree on Mill Hill Road near Mill Hill Elementary School, police said, noting both issues had since been resolved.

Additionally, a transformer blew on Black Rock Turnpike and Samp Mortar Drive, but was fixed Monday morning by the United Illuminating Co.

After Tropical Storm Henri blew through Connecticut, bringing a dreary start to the week, the skies will clear and temperatures will rise Tuesday in Fairfield, according to the National Weather Service, which projected sunshine and highs in the upper 80s.
