The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and the Fairfield Office of Community and Economic Development are organizing the event.

News release from the Town of Fairfield:

FAIRFIELD, CT — Together with the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and the Fairfield Office of Community and Economic Development, the Town of Fairfield announces a new community event to recognize and honor the local business community.

Residents, businesses and the general public are invited to attend A Celebration of Thanks, the first
community event honoring the entrepreneurs, shops, and services that make Fairfield a “go-to” for
everyone’s needs. Two separate events will offer connection, celebration, and community spirit on
Wednesday, November 19: a Brick Legacy Ribbon Cutting at 5:00 p.m., and a Celebration of Thanks

The Celebration of Thanks Reception will feature live entertainment from Sean O’Reilly, networking
opportunities, and recognition of the many businesses that call Fairfield home. Lite bites, appetizers,
specialty cocktails and other beverages will be served. Businesses are encouraged to come share their
stories, meet other local business owners, and be part of what makes Fairfield a vibrant place to live,
work, and shop. A group photo will be taken to commemorate the celebration.

Beverly Balaz, president and CEO of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, said, “The month of
November is when we celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving, so this month is a perfect time to say
“thank you” to our local business community.”

Director of Community and Economic Development Mark Barnhart, said, “We are excited to join with
the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce to host this business appreciation event. We don’t say thank you enough to the many local businesses that help make Fairfield so special. It’s entirely fitting that we do so during the month of November when we gather with family and friends to give thanks, and also recognize our small business community and ‘shop small’ as part of Small Business Saturday. We are truly blessed in Fairfield to have such a diverse local business community and such a vibrant and engaged Chamber of Commerce.”

The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce was established on July 1st, 1946. In 2021, the Fairfield
Chamber of Commerce wanted to celebrate its 75 th Anniversary but was unable to do so due to Covid
restrictions. The Chamber and the Town of Fairfield instead recognized the local business community by offering a Business Legacy Brick Project, creating a pocket park brick surface on the corner of Post Road and Old Post Road with inlaid bricks inscribed with the business name. With the Covid years behind us, there will be a ribbon cutting and “Love Local” celebration from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Brick Project, prior to the “Celebration of Thanks” at Penfield Pavilion from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Business Legacy Brick participants are encouraged to attend and be recognized by Town officials.

Town officials will attend both events to acknowledge and say thank you to our local business community.
