LTE: Christine Vitale is the Right Choice for Fairfield
Character Counts in Local Government

To the Editor:
I am writing to express my wholehearted support for Christine Vitale in the upcoming special election for First Selectman of Fairfield on February 3, 2026.
Christine’s record of service speaks volumes about her commitment and professionalism. She served six years on the Board of Education, four as Chair. She has volunteered extensively, leading PTAs, Girl Scout troops, and community organizations such as the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County. Obviously, she’s been a Selectman and First Selectman of the Town. Her professional background in project management and consulting complements her collaborative approach to governance and experience at the municipal level.

For me, what sets Christine apart is her character. When faced with adversity, whether navigating the pandemic as Chair of the Board of Education or stepping up after the tragic loss of Bill Gerber, Christine has shown calm, steady leadership and an ability to unite people and keep Fairfield moving forward. She’s proven that she will make the hard decision when it is the right decision.
We never know what the future will bring or what challenges might land on our doorstep. We need someone of character we can trust to do the right thing. In this election, that person is Christine Vitale.
