Cooling Centers Opened In Fairfield To Address Heatwave

High temperatures are expected throughout Connecticut into the weekend.

Information from the Fairfield Police Department:

FAIRFIELD, CT — Governor Lamont has activated Connecticut’s Extreme Hot Weather Protocol due to forecasted high temperatures in the 90s and above. This protocol starts at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, and remains in effect until 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23.

COOLING CENTERS:
Find your nearest cooling center by calling 2-1-1 or visiting 211ct.org. The lobby of Fairfield Police Headquarters is available 24/7.

* Bigelow Center for Senior Activities: Open from 9am - 4:00pm

Main: Mon - Thur 9am - 8pm; Fri 9am - 5pm; and Sat 12pm - 5pm

SAFETY TIPS:
- Stay in air-conditioned buildings.
- Limit outdoor activities to mornings and evenings.
- Wear light-colored, lightweight clothing.
- Stay hydrated; drink more water than usual.
- Never leave children or pets in parked cars.
