From Courtroom to Checkbook: Fairfield’s Double Standard on 980 High Street
The Town shouldn't spend $570,000 to support a 40-unit development it once fought to stop. Urge the BOS to Vote NO.

Fairfield, CT - October 27th, 2025, The Town’s Affordable Housing Committee has proposed that the Board of Selectmen approve spending $570,000 from the Town’s Housing Trust Fund to support a 40-unit affordable housing complex on the historic Judd House estate at 980 High Street.
Ironically, this is the same project the Town opposed in court after the Conservation Commission determined it would harm wetlands. Now, First Selectman Vitale has submitted this funding request to the Board of Selectmen for approval.
We encourage all residents to speak out. Urge the Board of Selectmen to vote NO on transferring these funds. Fairfield taxpayers should not have to subsidize a developer whose project the town previously opposed for environmental reasons. There are many better ways to promote affordable housing without sacrificing open space or historic sites.
