Why are you seeking this office?
I grew up in Westport. However, in 1980, my wife and I decided to settle in Fairfield. We were particularly attracted to the greater diversity of this community. I feel it is very important to work to maintain this character of the town. After eight years as a Plan and Zoning Commissioner, I believe that I now have the experience and knowledge of land use issues necessary to facilitate the positive development of Fairfield -- my home for 45 years.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
The most pressing issue is finding the proper balance between growth/development and preservation of the character of the community. I believe that by working to update our zoning regulations to promote responsible development, we can achieve that balance. In addition, by amending our regulations to allow for a gentle increase in density, I believe we can address the critical need for affordable housing for elders, teacher, police and fire personnel and young families and workers

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I bring years of experience as a litigation attorney and as a mediator to every meeting. That background enables me to focus on the critical factual and legal issues of each application necessary to achieve an appropriate and reasoned result.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
After seven years work on the Plan of Conservation and Development, it is now time to update our zoning regulations and implement many of the policies enunciated therein and in the TOD study

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I think my past eight years as an outspoken commissioner attest to my capacity to handle the job and advocate for land use policies that will benefit the community and grow the grand list. I think my attendance at meetings is exemplary.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Always maintain respect for the profession
