Date Set For 'Celebration Of Life' Of Fairfield First Selectman Bill Gerber
Gerber, 60, passed away on Tuesday from complications following surgeries to remove a malignant brain tumor.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Celebration of Life in honor of the late Fairfield First Selectman Bill Gerber will be held at 10 a.m. on July 25 at the Martire Family Arena at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, according to his obituary from Spear-Miller Funeral Home.
Gerber, 60, who was in the midst of his first term as First Selectman, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, from complications following surgeries to remove a malignant brain tumor.
He is remembered for his dedication and love of Fairfield, where he and his family called home for 30 years.

"Bill loved being First Selectman," the obituary reads. "No matter how long or difficult his day, he always maintained it was the best job he ever had."

Gerber was a retired C-Suite executive, who served for a decade on the Fairfield Representative Town Meeting before his election to First Selectman.
He is survived by his wife, Jessica, and their children, son John and daughter Gillian. A third child, son Teddy, passed away from cancer in 2010. Gerber is also survived by his brothers Rich and Andy (Christina), his sister Mimi (Tom), his sister-in-law Leslie Ballantyne, his father-in-law Ed Ballantyne, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
