Fairfield 5th Graders Learn About Groundwater
The science experiment was held at Perry's Mill Ponds and was hosted by the Mill River Wetland Committee.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Fifth grade students from Stratfield Elementary School this week learned about groundwater during a hands-on demonstration at Perry's Mill Ponds in Fairfield, hosted by the Mill River Wetland Committee.
The demonstration, using models created by Fairfield Warde High School teacher Luke Allen and his students, is part of the River-Lab program, which has helped generations of students explore the water cycle, groundwater and watershed health.
Allen and his students built the new model to replace one built in 2002. After years of use, the original model needed renewal, and this new version ensures that the program continues to enrich the Next Generation Science Standards curriculum for years to come.
