Fairfield Election Results 2023: Gerber Narrowly Ahead Of Kupchick
Thousands of Fairfield residents cast votes in the 2023 municipal election, but race had not been called as of 4:15 a.m. Wednesday.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Democrat Bill Gerber, a member of the Representative Town Meeting, was the projected winner Tuesday night as Fairfield's new First Selectman, in an upset over incumbent Republican Brenda Kupchick, according to the Connecticut Democratic Party.
But that was before absentee and same-day registration votes had been counted by hand.
As of 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Gerber held a narrow lead over Kupchick, but the unofficial tally had not yet been reported on the Secretary of State's website.

Earlier in the evening, Hartford Courant columnist Kevin Rennie, reported that Kupchick appeared to have lost by about 200 votes, but again, that was before the hand count.
The Fairfield Citizen reported that the race was too close to call, with Gerber leading by less than 50 votes, an amount small enough to possibly trigger a recount.
