Fairfield Republicans: Exploiting Civic Enthusiasm for Partisan Gain
D-8 Democratic RTM Candidates Speak Out

Dear Mrs. Devlin:
We are writing to ask about the Republican Town Committee's endorsement of Brendan Murray as a candidate for the Representative Town Meeting in District 8. While we wholeheartedly support the engagement of young people in civic life, this candidacy raises fundamental questions about candidate qualification and the RTC's vetting process. The voters of District 8 deserve answers.
Residency and Commitment Questions

Mr. Murray's biography indicates he has been a "Fairfield resident since 2022" and is a current student at Fairfield University, class of 2026. However, critical information is conspicuously absent: Does Mr. Murray maintain an independent residence within District 8, or is his address a campus dormitory? If he resides in campus housing, what are his plans for maintaining residency in the district after graduation next May? Has he demonstrated any commitment to remaining in Fairfield beyond his comment about "looking forward to a future in Fairfield?"
If elected, how, specifically, does Mr. Murray intend to fulfill his obligations once the school year is over and he does not live in District 8 anymore?

As chair of the Republican Town Committee, YOU bear direct responsibility for the candidates you endorse. You have a duty to Fairfield voters to put forward candidates who can meet the service requirements of the office they seek.
