Fairfield’s Bennett Center for Judaic Studies and Open VISIONS Forum Present “An Evening with Stav Shaffir,” Nov. 20

FAIRFIELD— On Thursday, November 20, at 7:30 p.m., Fairfield University’s Bennett Center for Judaic Studies, in partnership with the Open VISIONS Forum of the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, will present the 28th Annual Jacoby-Lunin Humanitarian Lecture, “An Evening with Stav Shaffir,” on Thursday, November 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dolan School of Business Event Hall. This event is co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Fairfield County.

Stav Shaffir is a social entrepreneur, educator, and former member of the Israeli Parliament (Knesset). At age 27, she became the youngest woman ever elected to the Knesset following her leadership in one of Israel’s most significant social movements. In the Knesset, Shaffir chaired the Transparency Committee, where she reformed budget oversight and exposed corruption. After her parliamentary service, she served as chair of the OECD’s global parliamentary committee on transparency and anti-corruption. Shaffir played a pivotal role in uniting pro-democracy forces and advocating cross-partisan collaboration to safeguard democracy.

Currently a Yale World Fellow, Shaffir is part of a distinguished international cohort of leaders recognized for their accomplishments in driving positive change at a regional, national, or global scale. She is the founder of Shira Academy, an educational program for neurodivergent young adults. Shaffir leads the Ministry of the Better Future, a civic initiative promoting innovative policy ideas and forward-looking leadership. She is also a fellow at Reichman University, where she focuses on the future of democracy.

Shaffir’s leadership is recognized globally. She has been named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, selected as one of Apolitical’s “Most Promising Future Political Leaders,” and featured in Forbes’ “30 Under 30.” In addition to her ongoing work in public leadership and education, Shaffir delivers lectures on democracy, security, and the future of peace in the Middle East. She also hosts It Could Be, a podcast exploring politics, society, and innovation with leading global thinkers.
