Flooding, Road Closures Expected Overnight In Fairfield
Fairfield residents in low-lying areas are encouraged to move their cars overnight.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfielders who live in low-lying shoreline areas are being advised to move their cars to higher ground overnight as a thunderstorm approaches.
The town is under a coastal flood warning from midnight to 4 a.m. Tuesday and a wind advisory from 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Up to 2 inches of rain is expected overnight, with thunderstorms possible after 3 a.m. and wind gusts as high as 50 mph.
“The severity of the flooding will be determined by the timing of easterly winds and gusts,” town officials said in a Nixle alert. “Minor to Moderate Flooding is predicted.”

Flooding is expected to cause temporary road closures around high tide, which will be about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Residents are invited to park overnight at Fairfield Veterans Memorial Park on Reef Road.
Rain could continue during the daylight hours Tuesday, with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service. Wednesday the forecast is sunny and clear.
