Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Fairfield County Tuesday: NWS

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Fairfield County. Here are the new details.

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Fairfield County on Tuesday.

"Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon with heavy rain possible, bringing an isolated threat for flash flooding and damaging wind gusts," the National Weather Service said in a statement on Tuesday.

A flood advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. for Fairfield County. "Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent," the weather service said.

"At 200 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen in some locations.

Some locations that will experience flooding include: Bridgeport, New Haven, Waterbury, Norwalk, Milford, Shelton, Naugatuck, Southbury, Wolcott, Newtown, Fairfield, Hamden,
Stratford, Trumbull, Cheshire, Westport, Darien, Monroe, Wilton and Seymour.

Today: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. South wind 3 to 8 mph.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. South wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. North wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Light and variable wind becoming north around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
