Heatwave Prompts Fairfield To Announce Opening Of 5 Cooling Centers
An extreme heat warning has been issued for all of southern Connecticut.
FAIRFIELD, CT — With the state sweltering under a heatwave, Fairfield announced it has opened five cooling centers, and posted a link for tips on how to handle the heat.
The five cooling center sites are:
Bigelow Center for Senior Activities: Open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fairfield Police Department: Lobby, open 24/7
Sullivan Independence Hall: Lobby Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Fairfield Public Libraries: During business hours
- Main Branch: Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Fairfield Woods Branch: Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
