Movie Premiere In Fairfield To Close Unquowa Road On Wednesday

"The Long Game" will debut at the Sacred Heart University Community Theatre on Wednesday.

FAIRFIELD, CT — "The Long Game," an inspirational sports movie about a Hispanic high school golf team in 1950s Texas, will hold its national premiere on Wednesday at the Sacred Heart University Community Theatre, organizers announced.

As a result, Unquowa Road will be closed for parking and through traffic between the Post Road and School Road from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. to accommodate the event, according to Fairfield police.

"The Long Game" stars Jay Hernandez, Dennis Quaid and Cheech Marin, and tells the story of a group of young Mexican-American golf caddies who build their own golf course in the South Texas desert in 1955 to learn how to play the game. The film is a true story based on the book, "Mustang Miracle," by Humberto G. Garcia.

"Despite outdated and inferior equipment and no professional instruction to begin with, they would go on to compete against wealthy, all-white teams and win the 1957 Texas State High School Golf Championship," according to a description of the film.
