Obituary: Patricia J. Leahy, 84 Of Fairfield

Our beloved matriarch, Patricia J. Leahy, age 84 of Fairfield, devoted wife of the late John P. (Bubbie) Leahy, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her family on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Frank Joseph Mongrain and Josephine Myrtle Spencer Mongrain, she had been a Fairfield resident for over 45 years. After graduating from Bassick High School, Pat worked as a nurse’s aide at the Carolton Convalescent Hospital before launching her successful and rewarding career as a real estate agent for Dunlap-Hibbs Real Estate in Fairfield.

Pat loved making the world around her beautiful and took pride in her home and garden. She spent many days redecorating and redesigning her home and every spring planting fresh flowers in her garden. She also loved shopping and always had a keen eye for fashion and quality, while at the same time, always looking for good deals and value. Pat was also fond of going to the beach, traveling often to Cape Cod, Georgia, and Florida with Bubbie, her family, and the dogs. Pat also enjoyed listening to music, playing golf, going out to dinner, socializing with friends, and never turned down an opportunity to visit Mohegan Sun to play the slots. Pat’s hobbies also included researching her family ancestry and she had a particular interest in the Kennedy family especially the life of Jackie Kennedy. More than anything, she loved sharing these hobbies and spending time with her grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her two children, Christopher Vaugh of Fairfield and Mary Sue Baricko of Shelton; her four cherished grandchildren, Abigail Baricko, Katherine Vaugh, John Baricko, and Patrick Baricko; a sister, Judith Boland Caruso, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Gerald Spencer Mongrain, her daughter-in-law Elaine Vaugh, and her first husband, Charles Vaugh.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, May 13, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Fairfield. Interment was held privately at St. Thomas Cemetery. For information, please visit www.SpearFuneralHome.com
