Rain, Ice And Snow In Fairfield's Thursday Forecast

Prepare for a slippery and snowy commute Thursday morning.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A mix of snow and rain may make for a slippery commute Thursday in Fairfield.

"A quick-moving system is expected to bring a period of light rain tonight changing to light snow early Thursday, potentially impacting the Thursday morning commute," Fairfield police said in a Facebook post Wednesday. "Accumulating snow may result in snow-covered and icy roads for the Thursday morning commute."

Rain is expected to start in the pre-dawn hours Thursday, followed by snow throughout the morning, with 1-2 inches of accumulation in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday night: Rain, mainly after 4 a.m. Low around 31 degrees. Southwest wind 3-8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday: Snow, mainly before 1 p.m. Temperature falling to around 28 degrees by 5 p.m. Windchill values between 20-30 degrees. North wind 5-10 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1-2 inches possible.

Thursday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10 degrees. Windchill values between minus 5 and 5 degrees. North wind around 10 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 22 degrees. Windchill values between minus 5 and 5 degrees. North wind 8-10 mph.
