The Salty Dog Grooming Shoppe Opens In Fairfield

The shop, owned by Fairfield resident Melissa Small, is at 475 Kings Highway East.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Salty Dog Grooming Shoppe, located at 475 Kings Highway East in Fairfield, held a ribbon-cutting event this week, and was welcomed into the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce as its newest member.

The shop is owned by Melissa Small, a third generation Fairfield resident, as well as a third-generation groomer. Her grandmother, Doris Hyde, founded Dove-Cote Kennels in 1969 and was one of the founding members of the Bichon Frise Club of Southern New England, according to Small's bio. The breed required diligent grooming, and the family learned alongside her.
