Special Weather Statement Issued For Fairfield County

A special weather statement has just been issued for Fairfield County.

Information via National Weather Service:

"A wintry mix of sleet, snow and rain will transition to all snow between 100 PM and 200 PM. A brief period of light freezing rain is also possible in a few locations before the changeover to all snow.

The snow will be light, reducing visibilities to around 2 miles, and at times as low as 1 mile. Accumulations of up to two inches are possible, and a winter weather advisory remains in
effect until 700 PM.

Temperatures around freezing to the mid 30s will continue to fall to the lower to mid 20s by late afternoon. Slippery conditions may develop on untreated surfaces late this afternoon. Northwest winds of 20 to 25 mph will gust at times 45 to 50 mph.

Motorists should exercise extra caution as snow develops and be prepared for rapid changes in visibility."
