Tornado Watch Issued For Fairfield
As Tropical Storm Ida blows through the area, Fairfield residents should prepare for heavy rain, flooding and maybe even a tornado.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield residents should prepare for heavy rain, flooding and maybe even a tornado Wednesday night as Tropical Storm Ida blows through the area.
As of 7:30 p.m., Fairfield was under a flash flood warning until 10 p.m., a tornado watch until 1 a.m. Thursday and a flash flood watch until 2 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
"Very heavy rainfall is expected tonight as a result of Tropical Storm Ida," according to an advisory from the town. "Residents of areas prone to flooding should relocate vehicles and vulnerable items from basements as a precaution."

Fairfield is expected to receive 3 to 4 inches of precipitation overnight, according to the weather service. An additional half-inch is forecast for Thursday morning.

Wednesday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 61 degrees. East wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between 3 and 4 inches possible.
Thursday: Rain, mainly before 11 a.m. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 71 degrees. North wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.
Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58 degrees. Northwest wind around 9 mph.
