Trinity Southport Celebrates New Rector in 300th Anniversary Year

Trinity Episcopal Church in Southport will welcome The Rt. Rev. Jeffrey W. Mello, Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Connecticut, on Sunday, November 9 at 5:00 p.m. to formally install the Rev. Matthew J. Lindeman as the parish’s 26th Rector. The Very Rev. Dr. Jesse Zink, Dean of Montreal Diocesan Theological College will preach.

Rev. Lindeman was called by Trinity’s Vestry in June. At this special service, Bishop Mello will read the letter of institution and lead the congregation in affirming their support for their new Rector, beginning a new chapter among the Rector and congregation

The installation coincides with Trinity’s 300th anniversary. Founded on November 10, 1725, at its original site on Mill Plain in Fairfield, Trinity is one of the nation’s oldest Episcopal parishes. For three centuries, it has endured — and thrived — through profound periods of change and renewal.

All are invited to witness this next chapter in Trinity’s enduring story. The service will include special choral music in celebration of Trinity’s 300th year. A festive reception will follow the service with generations of parishioners, community leaders, and friends of Trinity—past and present.
