Tony Hwang’s "Uniting and Healing" Claims Ring Hollow

His words and actions don't line up

(Patch)

Tony Hwang’s Republican party controls the Presidency, the House, and the Senate; they own the shutdown. Even worse, Tony has failed to stand up against this dysfunction or local MAGA extremists, like recently re-elected Republican RTM member Melissa Longo.

Now Tony is in front of the cameras again, discussing the loss of the SNAP benefits (a circumstance caused by his own party). Instead of using his platform to publicly demand the President release funds ordered by a court, Tony delivered his standard line: “This is a time for all of us to unite…”

No plans, or meaningful ideas to help those impacted by this Republican-led shutdown, the Senator spouted similar words when he threw the town into political uncertainty after the tragic death of Bill Gerber. While making claims of “uniting and healing,” Tony insisted on petitioning for an unnecessary special election to challenge First Selectman Vitale for her office, costing Fairfield taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars (not including the childcare burden on parents) to run a vanity campaign.

The Senator is correct: our seniors, children, and veterans are going hungry. This is because of the actions of his own party.

This is not healing, or unity. Please, Senator Hwang, just stop and for once, propose a plan to help those in need, because leading a town is about taking action, not speaking empty words.
