What is Jim Himes' Position on Communist China

His De-Risk vs. De-Couple Dance is not cutting it

Over the past decade, an increasing number of Americans have recognized China's rise

from 'trading partner' and 'adversary' into a clear threat to the American system of

individual liberty, free markets, and constitutional government. The publicly available

proclamations of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) document the fact. Viewed in the

long arc of history, China is the rising power coming up against the U.S. The question is

whether the U.S. is destined to play the role of declining power - or are we prepared to

bend back the arc for the betterment of the American people, and indeed the 'free-

world.' President Trump sets off for China this week to grapple with this national

imperative through discussions with the Chinese leadership.

Jim Himes, Democrat congressman from CT-4, has used his perch on the House Financial Services Committee, apparently to do bidding for his donor class base. He has questioned former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in a public hearing on our economic relations with China. See his play-acting video HERE. He and Yellen engage in a fine-tuned dance of the government Corporatists.

Himes began by disparaging principled criticism of the growing CCP economic hegemony as mere “emotion” on the part of critics. He enumerated the brutal CCP atrocities on the Uyghurs, the spying, the hacking, the intellectual property theft, and with aplomb, dismisses it with “the list goes on and on.” Himes said to Yellen “we must address the national security side without damaging the economic growth side” of the relationship. To Jim Himes, the cyber-driven and multi-pronged subversive cold-war the CCP is waging against the U.S. is a mere inconvenience, and should not interfere with the trade interests of the financial elite who have financed his campaigns for the past 16 years.

In a verbal minuet with Yellen, she and Himes conveniently agreed the U.S. should “de-

risk” from China but no, no, no - not “de-couple.” That public dance is nothing but a

gratuitous head-nod to the concerns of average Americans, while being sure to get back

to business protecting the economic interests of the crony-corporatist elites financing

politicians from coast to coast. To Himes, right through the Obama and Biden

years, the preservation of American values, jobs, and even national security are

continually undercut in favor of the financial and political elite. Jim Himes is their 'wing-

man' on the Intelligence and Financial Services committees. He has led no initiatives to

“de-risk” our engagement with the CCP. It has taken a new Administration to tackle this

national imperative.

From the spy balloons, to spying professors, to the probing cyber-attacks, to the

fentanyl smuggling, to their subversive bio labs here in the U.S. it has become clear

China must be dealt with as an enemy – not a mere adversary. Jim Himes is clearly not

up to the task. Let’s hope President Trump is more successful in advancing our national

interests this week.
