What office are you seeking? Town Council 1st District

What town do you live in? Farmington
Party Affiliation: Democrat
Occupation: Architect
Family: My wife and I have resided in Farmington for 30 years. We have three grown children, Dustin, Evan, and Isabelle. They all attended Farmington Public Schools and are successfully working throughout the United States.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government? No
Previous public office, appointive or elective: I am currently on the Farmington Town Council.
Why are you seeking this office?
Every community is dependent on people who pursue public service. I believe over the last 30 years, I have tried to contribute my time and talents to Farmington. It was these experiences that led me to successfully run for Town Council.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it: Adopting a fair budget for the town to vote on.
Making sure we balance our expenditures without overburdening our residents' property taxes. Delivering quality services within that framework.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
It would be the ability to clearly articulate the important details to consider on matters that come before the council.
Communication to our residents on our decision-making is a central element of good government.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
We have important work going on in our boards, commissions, and ad hoc committees. We need to take that work and make sure we have identified actionable goals for the town to realize.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence that you can handle this job?
Over my career in designing and constructing buildings, I have needed to carefully listen to a number of stakeholders.
It's understanding and respecting their goals that lead the effort to a successful project.
There are many similarities in the handling of matters at the Town Council.
I believe I have demonstrated this collaborative approach and attention to detail over the last two years on the Town Council.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
My parents instilled in me to give my best effort and treat people fairly.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I would emphasize that I welcome all residents to engage their elected officials with their concerns and comments. We are here to work towards making Farmington the best it can be.
