Farmington Opens Cooling Center
Scorching temperatures have prompted the town to urge folks to cool off at the Farmington Community & Senior Center.

FARMINGTON, CT — Like many towns in the state, Farmington Tuesday has released information on how folks without air conditioning can have a break during the day from the heat wave.
According to the Town of Farmington's website, the Farmington Community & Senior Center is now a "cooling center."
Located on 321 New Britain Ave., the center will be available for residents this week due to the heat, which is expected to eclipse 90 degrees and warmer through the weekend.

The building will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
In addition the town posted several tips and actions people can do to battle the heat and help those who are as well.

Among them are:
• Find air conditioning.
• Avoid strenuous activities.
• Watch for heat illness.
• Wear light clothing.
• Check on family members and neighbors.
• Drink plenty of fluids.
• Watch for heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
• Never leave people or pets in a closed car.
