Farmington's Council To Swear In Members This Week

The town's top elected body will be led by a Democrat for the first time in 70 years, with the inauguration coming this week.

FARMINGTON, CT — The community is invited to a special ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 13, when the Farmington Town Council will swear its members to new terms of office.

A special reception will begin at 6 p.m. and take place behind Farmington Town Hall in the town hall pavilion, located at 1 Monteith Drive.

While all elected members of the council will be sworn in, the evening's events will mark the swearing in of new Democratic Farmington Town Council Chairman Brian FX Connolly.

Connolly unseated GOP incumbent council chair Joe Capodiferro last November, 4,244-3,649.

In Farmington, the town council chair is elected by the voters, and Connolly is the first Democrat to hold that position in Farmington in 70 years.

Expected to attend, according to town Democratic officials, is Gov. Ned Lamont and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz.
