Heat Wave Prompts Farmington To Open Cooling Center

The Town of Farmington Wednesday also offered several tips on coping with the heat.

FARMINGTON, CT — The state's first heat wave of 2023 has Farmington officials Wednesday afternoon activating hot weather protocols and opening up the town's cooling center.

That place — where folks without access to air conditioning to cool off — is the Farmington Community & Senior Center, which is located at 321 New Britain Ave.

The cooling center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the heat wave, which is expected to last through Friday, at least.

Temperatures are expected to be in the 90s through the end of the week.

Farmington officials also offered up several tips on dealing with the heat, recognizing heat stroke and how to prepare for current and future heat waves.

Those concerned about an elderly or disabled resident during the heat wave is asked to contact Farmington Community Services at 860-675-2390.
