73-Year-Old Glastonbury Woman Missing For Months Found Under Debris At Home: Report
The mystery of a missing Glastonbury woman was solved with the discovery of her remains at her home, a case report indicates.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A 73-year-old Glastonbury woman, who went missing last July, was found dead under a pile of items that had been stockpiled inside her home about seven months later, police officials said.
Police this week shared excerpts from a report on the case with Patch.
Mary Notarangelo was located deceased on Feb. 24 by an excavating crew at the Toll Gate Road home where she lived, according to a case report. It was one of several desperate attempts to solve the mystery of her disappearance, police officials said.

Her remains were located near the front door of the home under "feet" of contents that had accumulated because of severe hoarding, a case report indicates.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner described the condition of her remains as "skeletonized" and said both the cause and manner of death are officially "undetermined."

Notarangelo's remains were located after several attempts by police and other specialized crews that included a state police cadaver canine, but conditions made each search difficult, according to the case report. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was also involved, according to the case report. It was difficult to navigate through the home because of the amount of items accumulated inside, according to the case report.
Notarangelo was reported missing last July 3 by a friend who helped her around the home, according to the case report.
The home is set back from the road and there are woods nearby, and police determined Notarangelo was likely still in the home because she had difficulty moving about.
That set off a series of search efforts that culminated with an excavating crew being called in, police officials said. Toll Gate Road runs parallel to Route 2.
The discovery of Notarangelo's remains closed the case, police officials said. Foul play was not suspected, police added. The family worked with investigators the entire time, police officials said.
