Glastonbury High School Teen Bowler Wins Spot To Compete in National Championship Tournament
A Glastonbury High School junior has won a spot to compete in next summer's 2026 USBC Junior Gold Championships.

GLASTONBURY, CT — Matthew Seagull, a Glastonbury High School junior, has won a spot to compete in next summer’s 2026 USBC Junior Gold Championships, the nation’s top youth bowling tournament.
He qualified for the highly competitive tournament after only one year in the sport, having joined the Connecticut ICS Youth Bowling League in 2024 as a novice. Since then, he has progressed to hold one of the league’s highest averages and regularly bowls 200+ scratch games.
He also won first place in his age group in spring 2025 for the most improved average among all youth members in the U.S. Eastern Region of The National Bowlers Association.

Seagull is the second member of Glastonbury High School’s bowling team to qualify for the 2026 Junior Gold Championships, where he will join fellow GHS junior Brady Reitz in competition.
Seagull won his berth in the 2026 Junior Gold Championships national tournament in Minneapolis through his performance at the Nov. 16 Connecticut River Travel Tournament at Callahan’s Bowl-O-Rama in Newington.

Youth bowlers compete in local tournaments for a limited number of spots each year in Junior Gold. It runs over nine days and includes qualifying rounds, advancer rounds, match play, and nationally televised finals.
He is the son of Daniel and Michelle Seagull of Glastonbury. He is a member of the Connecticut ICS Youth Bowling League at Hall of Fame Silver Lanes in East Hartford, and the Friday Youth league at Callahan’s Bowl-O-Rama.
