Distance Runner From Glastonbury Wins New England Championship

BOSTON, MA — Brooke Strauss of Glastonbury High School won the girls' 1,000-meter run Saturday at the New England Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.

Strauss, a senior, crossed the finish line in 2:46.05, more than four seconds ahead of runner-up Mikita Barry of Bedford, N.H. Teammate Lauren Parrett established a new personal best time of 11:00.06 in placing third in the 3,200-meter run.
