GLASTONBURY, CT — Glastonbury will distribute a supply of coronavirus test kits and N95 masks to residents at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Smith Middle School, 216 Addison Road, officials announced.

The distribution will be on a first come, first served basis while supplies last, and residents are asked to "access the site using Hebron Avenue, to Western Boulevard, to Eastern Boulevard, and then proceed into the Smith Middle School parking lot."

If you received test kits in the first distribution, officials ask that you not attend Saturday's event to allow for more residents to receive kits and masks, the supply of which is limited.

"Access will not be granted from Addison Road into Smith School," officials said. "Town staff will be on site to direct traffic and pedestrian access will not be permitted. Upon reaching the point of distribution, please display proof of residency on your driver’s side dashboard and pop your trunk. A staff member will place a test kit, containing 2 tests and accompanying instructions, along with a small supply of N95 masks* into your trunk. Upon receiving your kit/masks, Town staff will direct you to safely exit the site."

Motorists are asked to begin lining up at 8:30 AM or later to help support healthy traffic flow, but the town reserves the right to modify the distribution plan as necessitated by heavy traffic volume or other public safety concerns.

From the Glastonbury announcement:

At this time, the Town does not have enough test kits for every Glastonbury household, therefore this event is intended for town residents who are in immediate need of a COVID-19 rapid testing kit and are unable to obtain one elsewhere. Residents who received a test kit at the last distribution event held on January 4th are asked to refrain from attending this event to help support test kit distribution to as many community members as possible. In our efforts to distribute these kits as quickly and efficiently as possible, this event will be held rain/snow or shine.

Residents of Addison, Mill, Norman, and Addison Pond Roads should please be aware that the Town will be closing the roadways for the duration of the event, but local traffic will be permitted to enter/exit as needed. Additionally, the Addison Bog Path will not be accessible from Smith Middle School during this event. Anyone wishing to use the trail must access the site from Bell Street.

This is the second Town-hosted community distribution event. If you are not in immediate need of a test kit, or are unable to attend this event, rapid, at-home testing kits can be purchased through a number of in-store and online retailers, including: but not limited to: grocery stores, pharmacies, Walmart, Amazon, etc. Future town-organized events are subject to additional receipt of testing kits and masks, and will be announced as applicable on the Town website.

*Please note, the CT National Guard has verified that the N95 masks to be distributed as part of this event are NOT associated with the national product recall.
