Glastonbury Memorial Day Parade Taking Place Monday
The Glastonbury Veterans Service Commission will conduct its annual Memorial Day Parade with a ceremony to follow on Monday.

GLASTONBURY, CT β The Glastonbury Veterans Service Commission will conduct its annual Memorial Day Parade with a ceremony to follow on Monday.
This year's Memorial Day Parade will step off promptly at 9 a.m.
Start of the parade will be at Main Street and Welles Street. The parade will March south down Main Street and proceed past the reviewing stand on Hubbard Street to end at the monuments on the Green.

After the parade is complete, the VSC will hold a ceremony to honor the veterans from Glastonbury who "gave the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country."
The Glastonbury Fire Department Color Guard is in charge of advancing and retiring the Colors for the ceremony. There will be a guest speaker. Additionally, the names of the veterans through all the wars who died in service will be read with the ringing of a bell after each name. Taps with an echo will follow. The VSC Honor Guard will conclude the ceremony with a rifle salute.

Following the ceremony, the Glastonbury Elks in South Glastonbury will sponsor an open house for anyone who would like to attend.
In the event of inclement weather, the VSC will conduct an assembly at the GHS gym. A decision will be made before 8:45 a.m.
