Glastonbury Obituary: Elio Paternoster, 86

Elio was employed by United Technologies Corporation for over 30 years.

Elio Eugenio Paternoster, 86, of Wallingford, formerly of Glastonbury and Truro, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday November 12, 2018. Born in Waterbury, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Louise (Spadola) Paternostro.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Cynthia (Elwin) Paternoster of Wallingford and Truro, MA; his daughter Nancy Manning of Clements, CA; his son and daughter-in-law John and Ellen Paternoster of Madison; his daughter and son-in-law Linda and Jeffrey Spiewak of Wilton; his daughter Laura Flavell of Trumbull; his son-in-law Gregg Flavell of Easton; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Elio was a graduate of the University of Connecticut in 1955 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by United Technologies Corporation for over 30 years. He began his career at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford and later moved to the International Fuel Cell Division in South Windsor. The greatest joy of his career was working on the fuel cells that powered the command module in the Apollo Space missions.

After retirement Elio dedicated some of his time to Habitat for Humanity building homes in the Hartford area. He spent summers in Truro, MA on Cape Cod fishing, lobstering and spending time with the family and friends he loved.

Calling hours will be held at Mulryan Funeral Home on Monday November 19, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm located at 725 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury. A memorial service will be held at The First Church of Christ in Glastonbury on Tuesday November 20, 2018 at 11:00 am located at 2183 Main Street, Glastonbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elio's name to Habitat for Humanity at P.O. Box 1933, Hartford, CT 06144.
