Glastonbury Police Issue 'Unemployment Fraud' Scam Alert
Glastonbury police have issued a scam alert connected with what they called a "rise" in unemployment-related fraud.

GLASTONBURY, CT — Glastonbury police have issued a scam alert connected with what they called a "rise" in unemployment-related fraud.
"The Glastonbury Police Department has recently seen an increase in unemployment fraud reports. In these scams, criminals use stolen personal information to file false unemployment claims in someone else's name," police said. "If you receive a notice about an unemployment claim that you did not file, take several important steps right away."

- Contact the Connecticut Department of Labor to report the fraudulent claim.
- Notify an employer immediately so the company can flag the claim.
- File a police report with the Glastonbury Police Department for documentation.
- Monitor credit and place a fraud alert with the three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion).
- Check bank and credit card accounts regularly for suspicious activity.
