Glastonbury Seeks Upgraded Softball Field

A GoFundMe page has been set up by the local high school softball program, the town and Glastonbury Little League.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A community effort is underway in Glastonbury to transform a girls softball field into a state-of-the-art facility.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to upgrade a softball field at Glastonbury High School.

The effort is being conducted by Glastonbury Little League, the Town of Glastonbury and the GHS Softball Booster Club.

A GoFundMe was organized to raise the funds and the team wrote, "the first phase was completed two seasons ago with the construction of the infield, dugouts, protective fences and irrigation system at $85,000, essentially provided by GLL."

The team needs $18,684 to complete the second phase of the project.

The second phase "includes the left field corrective grading, seeding, installation of a warning track and a complete enclosure fencing at the cost of $60,000."

"With COVID restricting normal fundraising events and the increased cost of operating the program, GLL needs $18,684 to complete the funding of this critical project," reads the GoFundMe post.

The effort was unveiled Tuesday, with only $550 raised toward the $18,684 goal as of Wednesday afternoon.
