GLASTONBURY, CT — Theoretically, Hebron Avenue is one of the busier thoroughfares in Glastonbury, and near its junction with Main Street is a circa 1782 white Colonial known locally as the Gideon Welles House. The building now houses some retail shops, including the focus of today's Hidden Gem: Emmy Lou's Ltd. Gift Shop.

The physical address is on Hebron, but parking is behind the building, making it a tad tricky to navigate. Once you've spotted the beautiful light-blue bicycle adorned with flowers near the rear entryway, you are on the brick pathway to an adorable destination shop for unique gifts, home decor, holiday items, silk flower arrangements and wreaths.

Among the great variety of items available at Emmy Lou's are New Hampshire-made hand creams, soy candles, cards, purses and jewelry. The store prides itself on its slogan, "a shop for all reasons and all seasons."
